Iris Naert distinguished "local hero" by the European Commission
Iris Naert, member of the Belgian Prison Service team at the R2PRIS project has been distinguished by the European Commission as one of EU local heroes due to her job on behalf of the prison service.
Thousands of people from different European countries are working together to keep you and your family safe. They aren't seeking recognition – they’re simply doing their job. Every day the EU supports and connects these people, helping them to cooperate across borders in order to protect us. In 2018 the European Commission started the campaign EU Protects focusing on "local heroes", to reveal how the EU coordinates and operates behind the scenes to protect every citizen on different levels (safety, health, environment, society). Since 2015, Iris worked, as a member of the board of directors from the training centre for prison staff, on the R2PRIS project to help prevent radicalisation in prisons, the reason why the Belgian prison service was selected to participate. The recognition of Iris Naert and the Belgian prison service is an honor that is shared by the professionals and organisations, from public and private sector, that worked at R2PRIS focusing on radicalisation prevention in prisons. Well done Iris! |
